The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), in consultation with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), has revised the maximum insurable earnings for 2025 from GHS 52 000.00 to GHS 61 000.00. This adjustment aligns with Section 63(3) of the National Pensions Act 2008 (Act 766) and will take effect from 01 January 2025.
Important Notice:
SSNIT has not published a public notice yet; however, SSNIT has circulated letters to certain employers, and SSNIT has confirmed this increase via email. The minimum insurable earnings remain unchanged, as no new limit has been communicated or published.
From 01 January 2025, the maximum and minimum contributions payable to SSNIT will be GHS 8 235.00 and GHS 66.16, respectively. Employers and SSNIT Scheme members impacted by this change should ensure the correct contributions are made by the 14th of the following month.
- The new maximum SSNIT contributions have been implemented on the system effective 01 January 2025.
- All open runs have been recalculated.
- If the January 2025 run has already been closed, create an interim run linked to January 2025 called GhanaFY25_StatutoryUpdate, this run will not be billed.
- Customers should take note of the “Insufficient funds” warning message on the interim payslip of affected employees and decide on the most suitable course of action.
